Applied Biosystems has opened a new application support centre at its R&D headquarters in foster City, California, US. The 10,000 sq.ft. facility will house a wide selection of the company's instrumentation and software offerings to allow customers to identify workflow improvements and develop new applications with the help of Applied Biosystems staff.
IntegraGen has become the first certified service provider for Illumina's GoldenGate and Infinium genotyping technologies in France.
"IntegraGen is a company dedicated to offering high-quality services to other research institutes, either private or academic, and is the first laboratory in France to achieve CSPro certification for GoldenGate and Infinium Genotyping," said Karen Possemato, director of corporate marketing at Illumina.
MFIC Corporation has opened a new R&D facility, dubbed the Microfluidics Technology Center, designed to assist in the company's quest to develop microfluidic technology for use in pharmaceutical formulation processes.
"The Microfluidics Technology Center will house our highly-specialised research team, dedicated to advancing the formulation field by developing new applications for Microfluidics' technology and pursuing groundbreaking work in the field of nanotechnology," said Dr Thomai Panagiotou, vice president of R&D at MFIC.
Oxford Gene Technology has licensed its "Southern array patents" to Ocean Ridge Biosciences (ORB) for an undisclosed amount. The license will enable ORB to offer complete DNA expression and microRNA profiling services from its US operations in Jupiter Florida.

The licence will enable us to continue with our mission of improving human health through the provision of accurate, affordable, and information-rich genomic services," said Dr David Willoughby, senior scientist at ORB.
PerkinElmer has acquired the remaining minority interest in PerkinElmer India Pvt from Labindia Instrument. PerkinElmer India is a direct sales, service and marketing operation that serves India's rapidly growing life science and analytical instrumentation markets.

Syagen Technology has signed a cross licensing agreement with the Applied Biosystems / MDS Sciex mass spectrometry joint venture to share patent claims that cover atmospheric pressure photo-ionisation (APPI) technology.
The licensing deal will allow Syagen to supply its PhotoMate APPI source to third party liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) instrument manufacturers and the Applied Biosystems / MDS Sciex joint venture to supply its Photospray APPI source to its LC/MS customers.
