Affymetrix and Ipsogen have signed a 'Powered by Affymetrix' agreement allowing Ipsogen non-exclusive access to Affymetrix' microarray technology to develop and market in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products, initially for breast cancer.
"This agreement with Affymetrix, the world leader in microarray-based technology, provides Ipsogen with the most advanced platform meeting the highest industry standards to support our new generation of IVD-profiling diagnostic products," said Vincent Fert, CEO of Ipsogen.
Agilent has announced that the president of its Life Science and Chemical Analysis (LSCA) business, Chris van Ingen will retire at the end of October this year, the last day of the company's financial year.
Van Ingen has run the LSCA for the last six years and is a 30 year veteran of the company who has risen through the ranks to the very top - the company has yet to name a successor.
William Molnar has joined Agilent as the vice president and general manager of its recently acquired Stratagene division.

Bruker Daltonics has been awarded a $3.5m (€2.6m) contract to supply the Slovenian Army with a series of long range and point chemical detectors that will be integrated into the country's new light weight reconnaissance vehicles.
The company will supply Slovenia with its RAPID infrared detectors, RAID-S2 ion mobility spectrometers (IMS) for vehicle air monitoring and RAID-M100 IMS systems for hand-held chemical agent detection over the next two years.

Ciphergen Biosystems has completed its name change to Vermillion with its trading symbol on the NASDAQ stock exchange changing to VRML. The company has also agreed to a $20.5m private placement sale with a group of existing and new investors.

Last month the company received written notice of a lawsuit filed against it and Bio-Rad by Molecular Analytical Systems (MAS) alleging that the company is in breach of the license agreement between it and MAS relating to its Surface Enhanced Laser Desorption/Ionisation (SELDI) technology as a result of its sublicense with Bio-Rad.
Emerson Process Management Company has announced that it will set up a production base in China at a cost of $30m. The new Asia flow Technologies centre will take up 12,500 sq. m in the Jiangning Science Park in Nanjing.
The facility will focus on producing process control equipment such as flow meters, density meters and ultrasonic devices.
